Dear Zindagi is an insightful exploration of themes relevant to my field of study. The therapeutic relationship between Kaira and Dr. Jehangir demonstrated effective counseling techniques. Through empathy and active listening, Jehangir was able to build rapport and help Kaira process deeply rooted issues from her past.

His person-centered approach of unconditional positive regard was evident. Jehangir validated Kaira’s feelings and challenged negative self-talk, consistent with theories by Rogers and Beck. He normalized the experience of seeking counseling and implementing lifestyle changes for mental wellness. As someone learning to be a counselor, I appreciated how the film portrayed therapy as a journey of self-discovery rather than mere problem-solving.
Dear Zindagi shed light on how unresolved childhood trauma can manifest as anxiety or relationship difficulties in adulthood if not addressed. This aligns with the psychodynamic and attachment theories I’ve studied. The movie also highlighted the role of mindfulness, journaling, and other cognitive-behavioral techniques for treatment. Overall, it provided a thoughtful
depiction of counseling from both client and practitioner perspectives. I believe it can help reduce the stigma around prioritizing mental health.
