The TV series “The Good Doctor” is about Dr Shaun Murphy, a young surgical resident who has autism and savant syndrome. Shaun’s personality appeals to the audience as it offers great insights into resilience, determination, and empathy. Shaun’s condition of neurodivergence created several barriers for him, making many colleagues question his competence. Despite this fact, he never gave up on saving lives at any cost and showing affection for medicine.
His unique way of seeing things coupled with meticulousness and uncommon powers of recall have on more than one occasion helped solve difficult medical situations.It is not only the exceptional skills that Dr Murphy has in medicine but also his conviction that every person has equal rights. By interacting with patients he teaches compassion. The yearning for connection among all people even those who often seem quite natural like him is illustrated by his genuine effort to communicate despite being socially awkward.
In essence, the character of Dr. Shaun Murphy in “The Good Doctor” presents hope and an example to us all telling us we should accept diversity among ourselves, persevere under all difficulties and build a kinder world that encompasses everyone.
